I love using the Canvas dashboard! Being more tech inclined, I jumped at the opportunity to color code my classes, edit their names, change their visibility, etc. I'm glad Instructure has made this LMS the way they did. It's a huge improvement over D2L in many ways. One recommendation I have is for the student to be able to change their courses' pictures. I know that right is reserved for the instructor, but they just don't always utilize it!!
Lance, I am glad I noticed this post. Canvas Community is a place where Canvas users, including students, request new features, and there's a feature request there already for students to be able to pick their course card images (I agree too!). I'm going to go put a screenshot of your blog post there in the discussion as a supporting vote! :-)

ReplyDeleteYou highlighted some great points in this tech tip post. I too love to edit class names and colors and everything. Leaving courses as numbers gets a bit confusing when you are into your major classes and have a few bio classes for example. It would be very cool if you could change the images. And yes, canvas is much better than D2L.
